A Message From the Agricultural Society

The 159th Stanley Fair has draw to an end. It was a great fair and we are looking forward to the 160th!!!

Stanley Fair starts Friday

The gates will open on the 2009 Stanley Fair on Friday, Sept. 25 at 9 a.m.

The opening dinner will be held Thursday at 6 p.m., the night before the gates open. This is a community event opened to all. The turkey dinner will cost $10.

Among the honoured guests expected are and the Minister of Agiculture and Aquaculture Ronald Ouellette, repesentatinves from NB Fairs and Exhibitons, Mayor Rick Storey, MLA Kirk MacDonald and MP Mike Allen.

Following the dinner at 7:30 p.m. the local competition of the Youth Talent Search will be held. Entertainers between the ages of 13 and 21 will compete with the winner moving on to the provincial finals to be held at the Stanley Fair on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m..

The fair runs through Sunday. Activites will include a red hat fashion show and sale, a baby contest, bingo, music, a horse pull, a woodsmen's competition, a scavenger hunt and ball hockey. A full schedule is available at www.stanleyfair.com.

The Stanley Fair dance will be held on Saturday night with the Steve Waylon Band.

The fair started in 1851.
