Well, here we are it is nearly the end of January.
As you are looking through those seed catalogues you might want to consult the Stanley Fair Exhibitor’s Guide and Prize List.
You can find it on this website or you can pick up a “hard copy” at local businesses.
There are no changes being made to the 2011 book so use last year’s book if you have one. The special exhibits described on the insert have yet to be announced to 2012.
So besides planning your garden it’s also time to get busy with handicrafts, quilting, artwork and testing out those recipes searching for the one that will win you a first place ribbon!
Remember the 2012 Stanley Fair will be in AUGUST!!!!! Exhibits are due on Wednesday, August 15 and the Fair runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 17, 18 and 19.

161st Stanley Fair Comes to an End
The Stanley Fair is over for another year. The organizing committee will take a few days to rest up. After a review of this year's events they will begin planning for the 162nd Stanley Fair.

2011 Stanley Fair
With the appearance of yellow school buses and colourful fall foliage can the Stanley Fair be far behind?
The 2011 Stanley Fair will begin when exhibits are accepted on the Fair Grounds on Wednesday, September 21 between 2pm and 9pm. Pick up your copy of the 2011 Exhibitor's Guide and Prize List at the Taymouth Community Center, various businesses around Stanley or download it from the website http://www.stanleyfair.com/ and start getting your entries ready. Judging will be completed by 5pm on Thursday.
Thursday, September 22 at 6pm doors open to the Dance Hall for the Community Opening Dinner. A roast beef dinner featuring local and New Brunswick products will be served at 6:30pm. Price $10.00. This dinner is opened to the public and everyone is welcome. At this year's dinner, Taymouth resident, Louis Douglass will be honoured for his many years of service to the Stanley Agricultural Society #35 and the Stanley Fair.
Gates open at 9am on Friday, September 23 for a full day of events and activities beginning with guided school tours. Each year students are welcomed on the Fair Grounds where they are introduced to a bit of local history, taken through the exhibits and displays. The focus is agiculture, "where does our food come from?" and this year in celebration of International Year of Forests there will be a more extensive forestry display. Other events for Friday are the Baby Contest, Ball Hockey and Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Two new events for Friday are Square Dancing Entertainment in the Dance Hall beginning at 2pm and beginning at 7pm SMG Recording - Luke Hawkes Presents Entertainment in the Dance Hall.
Saturday's events begin as the gates open at 9am. A full day of fun includes Pet Contest, Ball Hockey, Fairmount Fair -Kiddies' Games, Science East and music in the Dance Hall Pub. New this year is a Dog Obstacle Course. The traditional Stanley Fair Dance will get underway at 8pm with music by "The Grasse Roots".
The gates open Sunday at 11am. The Woodsman's Competition begins at 12noon. The Square Dancers return to the Dance Hall at 12noon also. Other events on the slate for Sunday are Scavenger Challenge - a great family activity, Gospel Show and Cake Auction.
As well as all the events listed above there will be on going throughtout the fair, full canteen service, domestic animal display, market vendors, commercial exhibits, quilt display, 4-H, pony rides, agricultural awareness display, midway, antique engines, music, historical display and forestry display.
Watch your mailbox for a complete schedule with specific times and other details. Mark you calendar now - September 23, 24 and 25 for the Stanley Fair!

The count down is on . . .
Two months from today the gates will open on the 160th Stanley Fair - some fairs may have begun earlier but few can boast the consistency of the Stanley Fair.
There are many special events planned to mark the milestone.

2010 Stanley Fair Book
For those of you who are looking for the latest edition of the Stanley Fair Exhibitor's Guide and Prize List, it will soon be available on the website and in local businesses. Although our intention was to have it ready for March 1, we've run into a few delays. Please keep checking. It should be available very soon. In the meantime you can use last year's book as a guide.
